Charlie Care AB respects and protects your personal privacy and your right to control and transparency when we process your personal data.

1. General

This Privacy Policy explains how Charlie Care AB, Swedish corporate registration no. 559428-4878 (“Charlie Care”, “we”, “us”), processes your personal data. Charlie Care AB is the controller of the digital platform available at www.charliecare.se.

We provide digital sexological counselling to you as a patient.

This Policy applies to:

  • Users of our services
  • Potential customers
  • Visitors to our website

2. Scope of the Privacy Policy

This Policy covers the processing of personal data for which Charlie Care is the data controller. It applies whenever you directly or indirectly share personal data with us by visiting our website or using our services.

3. Personal data we process

Personal data means any information that can be linked to you. We may process the following categories of personal data:

  • Contact and identification data – to confirm your identity, verify your details and communicate with you.
  • Health data – information you provide about your physical or mental health. As a healthcare provider, we never share health data with non-medical third parties (except, for example, laboratories for tests).
  • Financial data – for customer due diligence and risk assessments where applicable.
  • Payment information – to provide paid services.
  • Service usage data – to improve your customer experience.
  • Digital behaviour – e.g. how you interact with our technical platform.
  • Technical data – e.g. device ID, IP address.

4. Health data we process

When you use our service, including consultations with a healthcare professional, you may share information about your past and present physical and mental health (e.g. illnesses, medical history, physiological or biomedical conditions). Your clinician may also add health data to your patient record — this is part of their legal duty to you as a patient.

As a healthcare provider, we are governed by the Swedish Patient Data Act (2008:355) and are therefore obliged to process (including archiving) the health data that arises when you use our service.

We never disclose health data to third parties outside our service unless required by law (e.g. the Patient Data Act). To deliver our services, we use a limited number of external processors who process personal data (including health data) on our behalf.

We store personal data only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes above (including meeting legal obligations). Data processed based on your consent will be deleted if you withdraw that consent. Note that withdrawal of consent does not affect our right or obligation to continue processing data required by law (e.g. the Patient Data Act). When data is no longer needed, it is either deleted or anonymised.

The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in keeping our patients and users informed about relevant services, unless you have actively opted out or we are required to obtain your explicit consent under applicable law.

7. Marketing and newsletters

When you create an account or book an appointment via our website (www.charliecare.se) or our web app (app.charliecare.se), we collect your email address. You can opt out from marketing emails at any time by:

Opting out will not affect emails that are necessary for providing the healthcare service (e.g. booking confirmations, clinical follow-ups).

8. Tracking & cookies

To enable improvements to our services and your online experience, our software automatically collects information from your computer (or mobile device), your browser, including your public IP address and domain name, cookie information, hardware characteristics (e.g., device ID), websites you have visited, videos and images you have viewed on our website, URLs from referring traffic to and navigation from our websites, date and time of your visit, and your geographic location. The data is compiled to help us gain a better understanding of behavioral patterns and trends within our services. To enable this, we use web logs or applications that recognize your computer and collect information about the computer’s online activity. We also work with certain third parties to collect and analyze parts of this information.

When you log in to our platform (www.charliecare.se or app.charliecare.se), we store an authentication token (JWT) locally in your browser. The token contains only your user ID and an expiration date, and is used to keep you securely logged in and remember your marketing preferences. The token is automatically deleted upon logout or when it expires.

To improve user experience, we store certain information locally in your browser (known as local storage). This is used solely to remember whether you have already filled in or closed certain elements on the website, such as our newsletter form, so you don’t have to see it again.

No personal information is stored, and the data is not shared with third parties. This storage is necessary for the website to function as intended and therefore does not require consent.

You can change your cookie settings in your browser at any time.

9. Sharing with third parties & transfers outside the EEA

We may share personal data with our data processors for the purposes described above. Some processors may be located outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Whenever personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we ensure an adequate level of protection, for example by using EU Standard Contractual Clauses or (for transfers to the US) by confirming that the processor is certified under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework (or its successor).

10. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent) — note that most health data must still be retained under Swedish healthcare law.
  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Have inaccurate data corrected.
  • Request deletion of data (“right to be forgotten”) where we no longer have a legal basis to keep it.
  • Restrict processing in certain situations.
